Principal's Corner
The year continues to fly by
with lots going on at the High School.
The student council and a Melba student led the breast cancer
awareness campaign at the school and it was a huge success. The sports
teams wore pink socks and helped promote the campaign for a week. I was
very impressed with the student that came up with this idea and then
brought the student council in on it and they were able to put together a
great program.
Mrs. Lincoln
had her baby last week, an 8 lb. boy named Lemont Lee Lincoln. She had to
have the baby cesarean due to complications, but both baby and mother are
fine and healthy. Mrs. Lincoln has been out to work on lesson plans for the
long term substitute and she is in great spirits. Mr. Lincoln has been
doing his share of getting up at 3 AM feeding the new baby as well. We are
glad that everyone is in good health and are out of the hospital and at
home.
Our Fall
sports wrapped up this past weekend with the football team playing a game
against Kamiah and the Cross Country team going to state up North and
representing the school in a very positive manner. We had one boy place 18th
overall and a girl place 21st. Congratulations to our cross
country team who earlier in the month won the district championship for the
boys team and the girls took 3rd place. Winter sports are already here with girls
basketball which started last Monday and boys basketball and wrestling
starting this Friday. We are looking for great things out of our winter
sports.
Finally, I wanted to talk about our Senior Project. Mrs.
Bastian presented the senior project to the high school staff at faculty
meeting Wednesday morning and explained how the program would work and what
kind of help she would need from the staff. I was impressed with the staff
and their willingness to step up and help with this project. There are no
extra dollars in helping out for the staff, they are all doing this to
benefit our students and I think it shows how dedicated our staff is to the
students at Melba High School. The Senior Project requires a lot of extra
time
from
the staff and students and I am looking forward to reviewing the projects
that the students will be doing.
I am traveling to Jordan and am excited to be part of a team
that will be visiting schools, businesses, and government facilities in
Jordan. I will be back in the building on Nov. 16th. I hope
everyone has a great month of November and have a great Thanksgiving.
